I was wondering which picture would provide a good perspective (rather than illustrating vanishing points - which could be another contest altogether) and thought this one would be worth sharing.
This is the view from inside the visitors centre on top of the Haleakala Volcano on Maui. At 10,023 feet above sea level, the air is thin. This shot was taken at 7:30 am, well past sun-rise, but handily, after all the crowds had fled like vampires before the suns rays.
What I liked most about this shot was the shadows cast by the window frames at odds to the floor tile pattern. The HDR was used to boost the colours.

A very good idea, and very unique, I think it's a good entry. I can only imagine how bright that must be as the sun comes up.

This is great! At first it almost looks like it was done on the computer. It has that space view feel to it. Colors are awesome and the view through the windows makes it even better.

What a brilliant violet and gold/orange sunrise adds a lot to the photo. when I was there it was foggy 2/3 way up and the sunrise was just so-so, as soon as I started into the crater it began raining but I did see the rare sliver sword
