Or, Tatarian Maple .

Acer tataricum (Tatar Maple or Tatarian Maple) is a species of maple native to central and southeastern Europe and southwestern Asia, from Austria east to southwestern Russia and the Caucasus, and south to Turkey. The species is named after the Tatar peoples of southern Russia; the tree's name is similarly commonly also spelled "Tartar" in English.

Any and all comments and critiques welcome!!

Tartar spelled backwards is Rat rat Rocker. I think that is a good name for this tree. The leaves look really delicate. I wonder if the syrup would be a true delicacy. It would probably give Aunt Jamima hot flashes.

A great use of available light.

We called those squawkers when we were kids, because of the sound they made when you hold one in between both thumbs, with palms together, and blew. We also called them whirlybirds. Excellent color and detail in this purdy shot, Randy.

Well ya know what? They look like colored whirlybirds to me!...lol...Ya know, those things that fall from the trees before they become leaves. But they are beautiful Randy and this is an excellent shot and comp!

I call them whirlybirds also, just like Joanie. Fabulous colours and lighting plus the softness of the background. Top notch close up, Bravo Randy

Wonderful lighting Randy!

When this 'leaves' are falling from the trees they look like a helicopter and as a kid we always picked them up from the street and throw them back in the air to let them 'fly' again :o))

I really like this image, Randy. The colors have a softness to them and the detail is outstanding. Nice DOF also. The bad thing about it is that you've reminded me that I have a bunch of these in my gutters sprouting little maple trees. I guess I'll spend Father's Day on the roof. Need any trees?
