A great photo of the Paramount and perfect for the contest, Jimbob. Too bad so many of these cinemas have closed, only to be replaced by multiplexes.
Years ago, my local cinema back in NJ was called The Strand. Lots of stories about movie experiences at The Strand, but the most interesting was when my grandmother brought my sister and I to see "Bluebeard." She thought it was a Disney movie; however it was "R" rated starring Richard Burton. Mamma mia!
Smile, without a reason why. Love, as if you were a child, Smile, no matter what they tell you Don't listen to a word they say Cause life is beautiful that way.
I had to laugh at laugh at Gibbs comments, JimboB. This would be perfect for the contest in my humble opinion. I too used to go to the movies a lot as a child. My lungs are still filled with the dust from the old westerns.
I like how the building fills the whole area. Nice and clear textures and good colour tones in this. It certainly makes a good entry for the contest Jimbob.
Fine old architecture... This style of small town/downtown movie theatre is fast becoming a thing of the past...Many have already fallen to the wrecking ball...
Yes, I agree that if there is anything really detestable - it is them multiplexes... Where are those old buildings, sometimes from good architectonic school and, yes, where are those good ole movies, like those for instance James Bonds with Roger Moore ?! Yours devoted & furiously disapproving of them Craigs-like Bonds, SAM & SAAB
I absolutely love your shot Jimbob!!! The design and architecture is Art Deco - my all time favorite era. It makes me very happy that they did not tear down this beautiful structure. This shot is a great entry for the contest - good luck and well done Jimbob!!!:-):-):-)!!
Excellent shot Jimbob, times past and times present! The street lamps, the bench, and the cleanlyness tend, I think, to reveal a character of your Freemont that I think all its citizens can be deeply content with.
I particularly like the composition of the point-of-view; one can see it as emphasizing the importance of the building over the other main element, the marque; the photograph can be seen as saying 'This is us, even in modern times'.
Like Ron said, you don't see many of these anymore...nowadays the big theatre companies jam a whole bunch of small theatres into one big theatre and the architecture and decor inside doesn't have the character or ambience they used to...or the prices!...great shot of this one with a lot of nostalgia for many of us.
I bet those cinema seats could tell a few stories hey Jimbob! A good clear photo and suitable entry, best of luck in the contest. I'm hoping to see some more entries before the deadline.
What movie are we seeing and who's buying the popcorn? Great character in the old cinema building. Nice details, tones and lighting in the photo, Jimbob. Best of luck in the contest.
