This would have been another bee-on-a-flower picture if he hadn't taken off at just the wrong moment. Except it turned out to be just the right moment when I looked at the result :-)

If you don't get a 99 on this than I don't know, this is the best image I personally think that is on Caedes as a macro shot. 10++++ from me and in my favs. Great timing Simon...you lucky dog...hehe!
Hey, thank you all for such great comments. I'm not sure it would have merited a 99 even under the old system, Terry, but now Caedes has gone all tough on us there's no chance ;-)
I've not been able to spend much time here for a couple of weeks so to come back and get such a great response is immensely cheering. Thank you once again to all of you.
Because of your framing it doesn't look like your timing was off, it looks more like it was dead on. Incredible shot, ballance, color, oh, and great desktop!
Lucky? I'll bet there was a lot of set up in this photo and then a lot of waiting for just the right moment. I especially like the use of flash here. Everything is just TACK sharp and the added highlites add to the feeling of dynamic energy. 10 x 10 and in my favorites. WOW!!!!
Thank you, Sally, Greg and Michael. I'm flattered you think there was setting up and waiting involved, Michael - it really was just one of three quick shots I fired off when I saw a bee land on some flowers while I was out walking with the dogs. I'd been experimenting with flash on macro shots and this was just another opportunity to practice the technique - it happened to come out much better than I thought due to the bee being a star with a great sense of timing :-)
