John, I see some mist, fog or some vapor above probably cold water. This enhances your already strong composition. With a perfect match with the other elements you've achieved a very moody and wonderful image. Well done!

I like how the tree line diminishes in size. It also makes a perfect triangle; directing focus to the fog. The arrow in the road also has the same effect. Nicely done, Frank.

Makes me think of The Soprano's and a dump site Shads. There were many an "end of the roads," in that series. All dark humor aside, this is really a moody shot with the fall colors and the fog. It chills me to the bone.
