Ok this is a tutorial i've created ..using my edit of Klas' Orchid image... its the first time i've done something like this.. so let me know what you think.. the finshed image on caedes can be found HERE
Good job Graeme...font is good at the lower resolutions and your explanations are simple and easy to understand. It may be helpful to add the tree form to your actions for example Edit>Image>Grayscale to help learn the interface. Now you need to make a tutorial on tutorials.hehe This is very close to what I had in mind for a tutorial. How much time did you spend making this?
I could do parts of an image - not the whole image though. I use so many different things. Several programs sometimes. I think this is a great idea though. Maybe we could have a tutorial gallery. Didn't I see this in a thread on the discussion board? Yeah - I did. Cool.
i drummed it up in an hour and a half i think.. at the most....i had originaly taken all the images with the full PS screen .. so it would be easy to show the menu tree system in use too.. but then it might take a little bit more space than this one... i think a 2 page tutorial along the same lines as mine could have much more detail in the explaination.. and i could go into finer detail, including all the tree details... it all came out of a PM convo i was having with Kals discussing the edit..i quickly explained how i made the image.. then thought of how it would make a good tutorial.. and away i went screen capturing away till i came up with this :D
the best thing to learn about the magic wand when using to select is the tolerance levels.. the lower the number you have there the narrower the colour selction will be.. its nice to start around the 30 - 40 level to rough selections.. and hold down shift to add an area to your selection... and alt to subtract.. i always start at 30 and then add and remove form the selection with a tolerance of 5 and then slip into the quickmask mode and use a small paintbrush to touch up the selected area by hand :D
This is great, Grim! I'm so glad someone had the dedication to take the first step and get things moving. As far as the tutorial goes, it does seem to me that we will need more room, I'm wondering if we caould have links in the image to give more detail, for example where you have put "Magic wand" you could have a link leading to another tut on how to use that feature, explaining tolerance etc (which I didn't know about BTW!); these other tutorials could be made by other people aswell... I will post this suggestion on the original thread too. Good work!
Well it seems clear enough to me. If I can follow it I reckon anyone can.
I have a suggestion, I think tutorials should state what software is use near the beginning so there is no misunderstanding. Apart from that I think you’ve done an excellent job. Thank you.
ooops.. sorry Trisbert.its done in adobe photoshop ( version 8 in my case) but thank you for the kind words.. and thank you mum42 :D as for ter-gen speedy... .i couldn't do ter-gen if my life depended on it......so the chances of me doing a ter-gen tutorial are slim to none.. i could do a tutorial on how i edited one of Sally (kileychristine) ter-ens.. but thats about it as far as ter-gens go.. :D
