Sandy Creek State Park just south of St.Louis Missouri.I was lucky to get this photo.Right after it my daughter decided to wade across the stream and precede to find out why they call it Sandy Creek.That was the end of that photo session lol.

Lovely! Nice contrast of new growth and the last visage of winter. OBTW, can anyone enlighten me why you would have covered bridges? We don't have any in Oz (that I'm aware of).

Aww, I got all excited...there's a Sandy Creek, NY, where a large chunk of my family lives. It's very rural and pretty. Like this picture. :)

Nice shot. Covered bridges were made that way for several reasons,
1) It made the bridge easier to see in heavy snow or rain.
2) It keeps the span free of water and snow making crossing the bridge in bad weather safer.
3) In keeping the support structure out of the elements, it greatly prolongs the life of the bridge.

If you walk through here towards twilight on a hot and humid Missouri day, you'll notice the bridge holds the musky aromas of days long past and even possibly the voices of those long silenced. A wonderful photo and a great place to visit.
