Sandworms are fictional desert-dwelling creatures from Frank Herbert's science fiction classic Dune. According to the Encyclopedia of Dune their scientific name is Geonemotodium arraknis (also Shaihuludata gigantica), though this point is debatable.. Among the Fremen of Arrakis (Dune) they are known as Shai-Hulud. The Fremen believe that the actions of the sandworms are the direct actions of God, and so the worms have been given numerous titles such as the Great Maker, the Worm who is God, Old Man of the Desert, Old Father Eternity, and Grandfather of the Desert...... Apophysis 2.05beta .... for all you Frank Herbert fans out there ... ;o)

Had to look at this when I saw the title. Can't remember where I got to in that series, but I definitely remember the Sandworms - though not the encyclopaedia's details.

Great interpretation!

Picture Purrrfect . Some people are like slinky's, completely useless but still a lot of fun when you push them down the stairs. 8~O
