this image was created using oil pastel instead of my preferred chalks.i suppse it's some kind of fantasy landscape again with a vaguely humanoid figure in the centre
Well, it looks like a fork on the left, & vaguely like a spoon towards the right ... & since I only served left overs for dinner tonight I'm assuming I must be hungry. ;o) Other than my mindset, I like this alot. A pure abstract. Nicely done !
I received a request to comment on this, so I'll try even though I feel especially unqualified to do so. I can't honestly say this means much to me. Sometimes images in something like the style of small children can really speak to something more sophisticated versions miss, but I personally don't find that here. I do, however, find it evocative. It suggests a lone traveller on a journey - a long journey fraught with dangers, perhaps, but critical to something beyond the traveller for which the traveller cares deeply. I don't see an obelisk, but maybe that is the fork-type thing on the left. I guess what I'm trying to say is that there's something I really like about the idea of this and the atmosphere, but I don't personally find that this presentation succeeds in executing that conception completely satisfactorily.
I suspect this is very personal, though, and I'm sure this style will convey your meaning much more clearly to others.
thank you for your kind words about "obelisk"i normally work with chalks but this one is oil pastel.i'll check out your work soon.expect some incoming post!
To me this appears like a person holding a pitchfork, since there is a barn nearby, as well as fields and a sunset....very nice colours once again. Verena
you know, i read all of the comments for this piece before i could feel comfortable enough to comment on it. i'm definitely not the person to comment on artistic matters. but i can give you my thoughts on a picture. here goes, the yellow brings you into the picture, but my eye wants to go to the left rather than to the person. so i view the "fork" first. then i can't easily to the person. my eye wants to go to theblob on the right and then off the artist's picture. (this is the view of a technician with ablolutely no comprehension of artistic matters)
thanks for getting in touch.beauty really is in the eye of the beholder and all reactions are equally valid.often i don't know what i'm doing myself so i welcome interpretations.have you taken any night shots of owls?i love your shots of my feathered friends-simon
