Apop. Photofiltre. My first submission to the contest. It's also my first attempt using a background other than black. Thanks to Lauren for her tips at accomplishing that task :) And thanks to all that view. Your comments are much appreciated and welcome :) Lori

To say this one evokes a warm glow would be quite an understatement. Great color, textures, and detail. A very successful first attempt, I'd say. Thanks Lori!

I like restoca's comments, as I happen to agree wholeheartedly.

Your choice of background colours perfectly suits the colour gradient of your flame. And your title is most apt and fitting. The contours of the ellipses intersecting really do convey the visual of grains touching one another.

Your piece here is most soothing to the visual palette. Warm, soft ... inviting.

Nice work.

This is really lovely. It doesn't especially make me think of autumn, except that the colours are obviously right. This is probably because I see not grain but, rather, an alien sunset with alien life-forms - life-forms consisting purely of light - frolicking in the mists of a gaseous alien sea. I expect their parents will call them home soon before it gets dark.

When I first saw this, without looking at the title, I thought "Oh. Wedding rings, right?" A commercial use for this image could be a backdrop in a jewelry store for a display of gold rings. It's full of warm color, has a soft and delicate texture, and oozes intimacy and romance in how the rings are morphing into each other. It's beautiful, Lori. As your first effort at a colored background, two years ago, you were certainly showing your prowess at design with this jewel. Forget the c-index... be proud.
