Springtime Snow

The frozen carp pond in my local park reflected some unusual colours from leaden skies & overnight snow. Despite freezing temperatures, the little fountain was working just enough to give a break in the ice for the fish to surface.

Hello Anne-Marie, and I agree about the delights of digital photography. It allows us to do SO much to our photos that sometimes it's hard for people to believe that two images are the same shot. I liked your image, and I hope to see more of your stuff.

Anne-Marie, thanks for the generous comments regarding Haceta Head at Dusk, they were greatly appreciated. I didn't mention it in the narrative but the house that accompanies the lighthouse is considered by some sources as one of the top 10 most haunted houses in the US. The lighthouse itself has many interesting stories associated with it as well. Glad you liked it.

A circular polarizer looks like any other filter except that it's double ringed to permit a rotation of the polarizing element. Of course polarizing filters (both linear and circular) practically eliminate reflections and increase color saturation levels by reducing the percentage of light that enters a lens.

Appreciate your kind comments to LOCK-UP Anne-Marie.....Yeah this is 'cute' dont really know what it is used for though!......The reservior is 'Chocka' with both Brown (wild) and Rainbow Trout....and gets visited by many fishermen.....I used to fish here some years ago, but the damage to my hands means I cannot hold on to the rod.....However, I get plenty of trout from friends who know my wife and i love them???.........Bob

I'm glad you liked the fox squirrel. My wife made a small noise as he was scampering by at 100 feet. He stopped and looked, just enough time for me to take his picture. There were supposed to be 14 different color variations of the squirrel in the gardens. I only saw this type. Ted

Thank you Anne-Marie and much appreciated for your kind comment to Holiday View went to St.Ives in Cornwall Great time, but the coach travel was a nightmare coach floor heaters were stuck on 'HOT' and counld'nt be repaired until we came home!! you can imagine how we felt with facing another twelve hours in a 120 degree sauna tub!! for 12 hours?...... The only other Caedeian down there was Mick (LANJOCKEY) he was kind enough to help with Places to Photo.....Bob

This version of Terragen doesen't allow vegitation to be put it. I've done some of that by "cut and paste"....wow...ALOT of work. They say the New Terragen 2 you can add vegitation. I'm sure looking forward to them putting it out!!!

Yup, the vegitation thing is one of Terragens downfalls. Unfortunately, TG2.....is still under construction. Everybody is hoping it will be coming out this year, so we'll just have to wait and see. It should be really incredible though!

Yay! Glad you liked Juvenile Success. I picked the title before I even knew that it is actually a birding term. The Juvenile Success ratio is the ratio of birds that live to be juveniles. It is a metric that is used for tracking viability of species. Anyway, the photo doesn't really compare to how unbelievably surreal it was to be amidst so many of them. Breathtaking. cheers, Quiet
