September is Alzheimer's Awareness Month and today Sept. 21st is Alzheimer's Awareness Day, so I'd like to share a little of my story. I moved in (plus my husband and 2 kids) with my parents a few years back, in a log house my parents and me hand built, so I could help with my Mom who had Alzheimer's Disease. I made myself a commitment last October since joining Caedes of taking photographs ONLY on these two acres of wooded bliss, as a Celebration of Home. Every photo in my gallery (with the exception of the Geckos) was taken here at home. I will after October actually venture off the porch to take some shots and who knows what I'll find out there. Sadly my Mom passed away peacefully at home last Friday on Sept. the 14th and will be greatly missed. -Christie

Hi Christie...Thanks for comment on my picture of Seagulls "The Dance". Ijust wanted to comment to you...you mention the texture of the sand in picture. It is not sand, it is ice that the Seagulls are on. I took this picture a couple of winters ago. I have another picture in my gallery of these same three Seagulls where they are squaking. Anyways I looked through your gallery and was quite impressed with your talent with taking pictures. I also see you have a tremendous respect for nature which i like also. ...gerry

I believe this bird to be an Indigo Bunting. The setup I used on this dreary day was a Canon 300mm 2.8 lens with a Canon 2.0x III extender giving me a very heavy 600mm setup that I attached to a monopod. Do to the lack of sunlight that day I set the Canon 5D III in aperture priority at an F-stop of 8.0 and an ISO of 3200. Even with an ISO of 3200 my shutter speed was only 320th of a second, less than half of what I would like it to be. On the bright side the birds didn't seem to mind the weather and the lighting was very even yielding several keepers besides this one.
