Hi Jerry. Welcome to Caedes. It looks like you just discovered us. I'm flattered that my "Carcassonne Aude Gate" photo is one of the few you've noticed. My confessions about it are

1) It was taken during a guided tour of the walls.
2) I had taken the same photo two years earlier when stranded in the Pyrenees during a "greve nacional", a nation-wide strike, but the earlier shot wasn't as well composed and I had two years to figure out how to fix it :-)

Thanks for taking the time to comment about the photo. Your practice is becoming a bit more rare at Caedes these days.

Jerry: I am very familiar with this area. I travel through the Yakima River Canyon to Ellensburg quite often. Many are the time I have photographed there.
I love your capture as it sets a tone and is beautifully presented here.
I know that if you make any editing of the image it is no longer the same but in this instance I think I would have edited out the white railroad sign. It draws one eye to it immediately as it is the brightest part of the image. Just a suggestion, try it and see how it changes the tone of the image.

Light is that magical phenomenon that allows us to enjoy the sights of the physical world. That property grants me the ability to interpret and record the beauties of which are so vital to me: my physical environment. Each of us sees and interprets the world a little differently and I am happy to share my interpretive vision of it with you.

Thanks for your comments on my posting Roadside -3. You asked "...where is this?".

It was a roadside shot taken about 1 year ago near Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada.

Thanks Jerry, The frame is simply because the aspect ration is not right for 1200 x 1600. The photo is the normal 2 x 3 ratio. You can cut the frame or make it any colour you like.

Hi Jerry, thanks for the positive feedback on the Sedona lanscape picture. Believe it or not, this was taken on film, not a digital photo. I'm surprised by the positive response. I thought this one was just okay. Feel free to do a Rework if you'd like. As I looked at this one in Photoshop, I really couldn't think of a way to improve it. Thanks again, I appreciate it.

Hi Jerry, Thanks for the rework on the Sedona pic. I see what you mean by adding the contrast, makes it more striking. I'm new enough at photo editing that when I started to toy with this, I couldn't really think of a way to improve it. The lighting was perfect that day, but I haven't used the contrast adjustment yet in Photoshop. All of my pics are pretty straight forward, so I'll experiment and try some new things. Thanks for the encouragement!

Hi Jerry, thanks for the comments on "White Cliffs of Dover". The rocks are actually suspended on something like fishing line. This is from a display at the Milwaukee Art Museum. The artist had a note that she had to get special permission from the government (British?) to collect the stones! The display is quite massive, which may not translate that well in the photograph. My best guess is the artwork is 48 feet wide by 24 feet high. It was difficult to decide what angle to take the photograph. I've never really seen subject matter like this before, so didn't know if going for depth or a straight on shot was best. Glad you like, good conversation piece. Thanks again.
