Hello Rachel...Many thanks for taking the time to view (DUST AT DAWN)and for your lovely comments,it is very much appreciated To me horses are living works of art and their was nothing better on this particular morning than to watch the movement, power, speed and beauty of these horses running over the dry ground stirring up the dust....I love to share with others and if my pictures give you pleasure then that makes me feel good...Thankyou again....All the very best to you Rachel...............Mick.
Beyond a shadow of a doubt, there will always be someone better. Challenge not another person, but yourself. Ensure your victory lies within, so others may one day follow YOUR achievements.
Thank you for your nice comment Rachel about "Rocky River " I appreciate it! Don't worry it has been up for four months now and not going anywhere. I don't know about you but sometimes I post a picture and when I see it on Caedes I just don't like how it looks. I forgot all about saying I may delete it
Hello Rachel...Many thanks for taking the time to view (THUNDEROUS HOOVES)and for your lovely comments,as you know it is very much appreciated...Their was a total of 41 horses of different sizes and colour running on the dirt track towards me..The noise was something else to experience..Although it was quite scarey being on the same track I have to say I did enjoy the challenge in trying to get one or two decent pictures....Thankyou again....All the very best to you Rachel...............Mick
Hello again Rachel...Thankyou so much for your lovely comments on (STEADY BOY) they are so much appreciated....Horses were coming over the bank one at a time and I have to say it was an exciting time watching and photographing them as they appeared. I will be posting somemore pictures of the horses coming down the bank in the near future....Thankyou again....All the very best to you Rachel.............Mick.

Thanks Rachel for your comments on "Sweet Dreams" and "Rhymes With"; and for adding Rhymes to your faves. Much appreciated and glad you enjoyed the photos. I probably should have pulled the view back on the sweet dreams shot to include more of the background, might have made for a more suitable wallpaper then. Sadly no vandalism was to be had in the other scene. Though the bike was practically glowing in the photo, I had to de-saturate the colours to make it manageable. Have a great day. ~Wendell
Thanks Rachel for your comments on "Blue", "Looking For Love" and "Tail End". Glad you enjoyed the photos. Blue was a quick snap with little thought put into it as I left the gardens it was growing in. Surprised it turned out as good as it did. I can't remember the last time anyone used those tennis courts. I'd been thinking of this shot for some time and the contest gave me a reason to try it. I would have liked to have included a tennis racquet or a lone ball for more context. A little cropping could be used on Tail End. Maybe to the right of the reeds across the pond and slightly above the band of clouds. That should bring the fountain more into focus. Composition isn't my strong suit. Have a very lovely day. ~Wendell
Hi Rachel! Thanks for commenting on "Tranquility". I tought leaving the fence in there was a good idea. To me, it is an image of the old west and how man tried to control nature. I am glad you liked the photo! Thanks again for the wonderful comment
Thanks Rachel for you comments on "Minor Variation". I may have over-experimented with the editing trying to get the right balance with the light and shadows. Thanks for the input, much appreciated. Have a lovely day. ~Wendell
Thanks Rachel for leaving a comment on "Trellis Flowers". Glad you enjoyed the photo. It could have withstood a little cropping for the composition. Have a great day. ~Wendell
Hi Rachel, thanks for your kind comments on "Some Benches" and "Pond". Glad you enjoyed the views. Benches looks better as a vertical shot and Pond needed more room to the right for a better balanced photo. Have a great day. ~Wendell
Thanks Rachel for your comments on "Some More Benches". Glad you enjoyed the view and scenery. I left the extra gravelly bits in to have something solid to complain about. It draws attention away from the bad sky job. Have a wonderful day. ~Wendell
Raechel, that's awesome that Bath is your hometown! I was only able to spend a handful of hours in your city, but it looks like a delightful place. Your pictures from the town look great and I appreciated you stopping by to check mine out. Thanks! :)
Thanks Rachel for your comments on "Who You Calling Yellow". Glad you liked the photo. It just takes some patience and a steady hand to do this type of photo work. Have a lovely day and a great week. ~Wendell
Thanks for your comments on barnacle invasion. Unfortunately my closer pictures didn't come out so well with the water and things under water were too blurry.
Hi Rachel, thanks for your comments on "A Slightly Different Bench". Glad you enjoyed the scene and thanks for pointing out the apparent focus problem. But consider for a moment you are concentrating on the bench because of the title and narrative. Had it been titled "Blue Caution Sign" you'd be looking where I wanted you to. Then you could complain to your heart's content about the sign being illegible, lol. Have a grand and lovely day. ~Wendell
Hi Rachel, thanks for your comments on "Pinkish" and "Perched". Glad you liked the photos. I couldn't bring myself to use 'piiiiiiiink' for a title, rather silly word and all. I'll have to get permission from the neighbour to cut down the tree in the crow photo. Have a wonderful day. ~Wendell
Hi Rachel, thanks for your favorable comments on "Root of the Problem". Glad you enjoyed the photo. I didn't use a sepia effect, I changed the white balance to a warmer colour and added a layer or two to make adjustments to the lighting. Have a great day. ~Wendell
Hi Rachel. Many thanks for your comments on my photo Solitude. I can understand why you thought it might have been shot on Dartmoor. The lower parts of the Peak are very similar. Glad you like it.Apologies for taking so long to acknowledge these, but we have been away from home a lot, often in remote areas with no internet access. Barry.
Thanks Rachel for your comments on "Down". Glad you enjoyed the scene. I don't think 1/10th is considered a slow shutter speed, this was a hand-held photo and I'm not that steady to hold still for more than a second or two. Have a great day. ~Wendell
Thank you for your comment on Mighty against the clouds! It was indeed very misty and foggy and I thought it might create some nice effects! Thanks once again!
Hi Rachel, thanks for your comments on "Same Pool". Glad you enjoyed the scene. The lighting is never easy to catch in that area of the park, I just got lucky. Have a lovely day. ~Wendell
Hello Rachel....Many thanks for taking the time to view (AUTUMN SWANS)and for your comments,it is very much appreciated....Being in the right place at the right time gave me the opportunity to take this shot of the swans....Thankyou again....All the very best to you Rachel..........Mick.
Hi Rachel, everyone keeps asking if 329 is the moon so now I just say "329" really is my land claim on the moon. I was keeping it hush hush to get in early and grab up a premium location before the moon rush begins...thank you for your kind words and faving it!
Thanks Rachel for your comments on "I've Been Robbed". Glad you enjoyed the scenery. You'll be happy to know that all those trees that were cut down have been replaced. By now they should be standing 6 feet high, a ways to go yet before they reach the height of these ones. Have a lovely day. ~Wendell
Hello Rachel...Many thanks fo viewing (HORSES AT LIBERTY)and for your comments,it is as you know very much appreciated...The horse with the fancy blanket is a retired race horse and he is a lovely and friendly fellow....I have no fear of being around horses, but saying that I do have the utmost respect for them....Thankyou again....All the very best to you Rachel.......Mick.
Hi Rachel, thanks for the comments on "Neatly Folded & Stacked". Glad you liked the scenery in the photo. A professional set decorator was hired to arrange the debris field for this shoot. But he went way over budget. Have a lovely day. ~Wendell
Thanks for the comment on 'Twighlight Blossom'. I probably don't get comments as I don't go around commenting unless something really good or unusual catches my eye.
Hey Rachel, thanks for adding "Potential" to your faves and for your kind comments. This was shot in mid-April, so there was a chance there was some frost, this being cold frigid Canada and all, but I seem to recall it was a bright sunny day :) Glad you enjoyed the photo. Have a great day. ~Wendell
Hi Rachel, thanks for your comments on "This". Glad you enjoyed the photo. I had nothing planned for This, it just happened. Have a wonderful day. ~Wendell
Hello Rachel....Many,many thanks for your lovely comments on (LOW TIDE)it is as you know very much appreciated...I have to say I am very lucky to live down here in Cornwall and to have the opportunity to visit some wonderful places.....Thankyou again......PS Warmest thoughts and best wishes for a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year...All the very best to you Rachel........Mick.
Thanks Rachel for your comments on "In Flight". Glad you enjoyed the photo. Part of the blur was introduced during the editing, but it wasn't that sharp to begin with. Have a lovely day or evening. ~Wendell
Rachel - Thank you for faving "Denali Landscape'. The beauty of Alaska is difficult to describe, and photos don't show the vastness of the mountain landscape. I am pleased that you liked this view. Thad
Hi Rachel, thanks for your faves and comments on "It Was Red" and "Stepping Down". Much appreciated and glad you liked the photos. Have a marvelous day. ~Wendell
Thanks for the post on Freeze - it's my first post in a while but I've put more stuff on here before, just not for about a year or so :) I'd really like to give the frozen flowers another go at some point so to see it's liked makes me want to more!
Hope you're having a lovely day, even if it has got a bit nippier :)
We as artists look upon the world in many different languages. There are those of us who see sadness, pain, suffering. But if we do not occasionally look and see that there is love and laughter, what's the point of looking at all?
Thanks Rachel for your comments on "Forest Lighting". Glad you liked the photo and scene. Both shots are experiments with the same lighting technique just to see what works and what doesn't. Have a lovely day. ~Wendell
My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
Hi Rachel, thanks for your comments on "Mistakes Were Made". Glad you liked the photo. The wind chimes are real, the lighting is responsible for the fakery and the main reason I shot the photo. Have an exciting day. ~Wendell
Thanks Rachel for your comments on "Questions Were Asked". Glad you were thoroughly confused. Sorry to hear you and Bob split up. :-) Have a great day. ~Wendell
thank you, as always, for the comments-- on that tree, it was pretty easy to edit, since the flowers are so bright it was very easy to select/mask them, and then make the rest of the image black and white.
Hi Rachel, thanks for your comments on "A Walk in the Park". Glad you enjoyed the scene. I think you've hit the nail on the head about the contrasts. I had a hard time trying to find the 'right' balance for the lighting/shadows. Should have gone a bit darker, maybe. Have an exciting slow day and cut back on the coffee. ~Wendell
Hi Rachel, thanks for your comments on "A Leaf Falls". Glad you enjoyed the photo. There was no 'cropping' applied to the photo. I shot it extremely close up, but I could have added a bit more room to the bottom in editing. About the only thing to do with the composition would be to make the image square or add more room to the right. The red tree branch is actually a mahogany stained timber rail the leaf had settled upon. Have a grand day. ~Wendell
thx for the comments, as ever-- and about "Moroccan Light 4", I really agree, the crazily bright green fabric hung on those balconies is what makes the image interesting!
Thanks Rachel for your comments on "A Seat Is Found". Glad you enjoyed the photo. In autumn there are a few more colours to choose from in this location. Have a great day. ~Wendell
Hello Rachel...Many thanks for taking the time to view (PARKLAND GOLF COURSE)and for your lovely comments,it is so much appreciated...I love to paint landscape in oils and there is no doubt that has helped when it comes to composing a scene for a photo....Thankyou again....All the very best to you Rachel......Mick.
People aren't going to remember the things you do. They're going to remember how you made people feel. Be kind, gracious, and appreciative. Dan Winters - Photographer.
Thanks Rachel for your comments on "5 O'Clock Shadow". Glad you liked the scene. I'm glad now that I didn't go with my first choice of adding a submarine to the scene. Have a lovely day. ~Wendell
Hi Rachel, thanks for your comments and suggestions on "Couple of Bobs" and "Strawberry". Glad you enjoyed the photos. Have a wonderful weekend. ~Wendell
Thanks Rachel for your comments on "Never Here". I blame the editor for the soft sky and graininess. Glad you enjoyed the scene. Have a wonderful day. ~Wendell
Thanks Rachel for your comments on "Mud in Your Eye". Glad you enjoyed the photo. I've done a photo of dried mud before, seemed natural to include the unbaked version. Have a great day. ~Wendell
Thanks Rachel for your comments on "Taking a Break" and "Reservations". Much appreciated and glad you enjoyed the photos. Have an amazing day and a wonderful week. ~Wendell
