Hi, I'm glad that you liked the Christmas Cactus. I am ambivalent about borders. I think it depends on the image a great deal. Sometimes it turns an average image into a piece of artwork. I don't know. With the cactus I tried to go lightly with the border because the flower was the real show. It depends, but I reallly appreciate your stopping by and commenting. i suppose this is as good a place as any. here's a bit of a rant... just gotta get this off my mind.

i think it's rather unfair for people to put identifying marks on their pictures. i'm not going to name any names, but there's one person in particular who does this, and it gets irritating. the point of the voting system is to promote anonymity, and when you put some identifying mark or signature on the picture, this ruins any anonymity that the voting system is trying to promote. this can lead to all the problems with a regular voting system that the site has been trying to avoid, etc.

oh, and while i'm at it, i wish the user could choose the image size for the voting process - i like to view pictures in their highest resolution for voting, because sometimes you can't tell how good an image's quality is based on a smaller screenshot. i've seen images that look good at 1024x768 but look terrible at 1600x1200, and you can bet i'll use the 1600x1200 if i am to save it or use it as a background. just a thought.
