Hi Rob. Welcome to Caedes. I like the images you've put up, since you've come to Caedes, but I'm guessing you're going to be pretty popular here, and there are only so many themes of "of" that you can use :-> I like the style of your shots, so keep them coming, please.

Don't be offended though if some of your shots don't get high c-indices. This site is about desktop wallpaper, so sometimes a beautiful image that is too busy to let icons show through well will get low votes, because it doesn't work as wallpaper. Don't let it discourage you.

Thanks for visiting my River Traffic and Gateway arch image. Bracket? What's with this Bracket thing? Just remember I am an old time photoguy. We old timers learned that bracketing caused you to spend a lot of money on film. We used to, and I still do, make two exposures when using b&w film if there is a lot of sky in the mage. For some reason pinholes seem to migrate to he sky area on b&w films..
And now to make many enimies. I personally feel that shooting a string of images, either film or digital, causes the photographer to become sloppy. This "Get a hunch and shoot a bunch" is not my style. I only feel that this type of capure is useful at a sporting event. O.K. I'm ready for your comments and barrbed replies.

Pussy Willow was an unplanned shot that turned out nice with the subject being backlit by the late evening sun and the background shadows turning dark with the fill flash. Thanks Rob for your comments on "As the Seasons Change". I did look at your gallery and found many images that I have seen before here on Caedes. They are very nice.

The aim of every artist is to arrest motion, which is life, by artificial means and hold it fixed so that a hundred years later, when a stranger looks at it, it moves again since it is life. Since man is mortal, the only immortality possible for him is to leave something behind him that is immortal since it will always move. This is the artist’s way of scribbling “Kilroy was here” on the wall of the final and irrevocable oblivion through which he must someday pass.

Thanks for you comment on my centre Street Bridge picture. My camera takes a differnet aspect ratio then this site so my options were to chop the sides or stick something on top or the bottem. I decided that the sky blended into a black bar too much and made the bottem look silly cuz it looked like there was only a bar on the bottem, so i put the white lines to define it.

I loved your comment on "Remember when: Drives were exciting". Many thanks, and glad that some fun memories were evoked.
Yeah, those sounds were good, and the way they shook, and the noise as they drove, and...
Enjoy your day

Hi Rob! Thanks for your comments on "Remember when: The Love Died" glad it reminded you of good story :o) I did toss around a few ideas for titles, and one of was something along the lines of remembering a good time, a celebration of some sort. Glad to see it brought that memory back for you.

There's an emptiness inside her and she'd do anything to fill it in. Though it's red blood bleeding from her now, it's more like cold blue ice in her heart. She feels like kicking out all the windows and setting fire to this life. She could change everything about her using colors bold and bright, but all the colors mix together...to grey. ~*DaveMatthewsBand*~

it was such a memorable experience being in the snow for the first time, especially with a big group of people in the same situation - its hard to imagine snow being so commonplace as to forget, but i guess people might say the same to me about where i live :) thanks for sharing the setiments!

Hehe...it´s impossible to follow your energetic tempo, Rob...! You have to wait for my next contribution to the succesful Remember when idea you carried out. I think everybody here appreciate that work very much ! I´m very glad to see your nice words about "The Rappe Story", it is a happy memory I think of now and then. I believe that the experiences from the country-side village has been very important to me later on moving to the big city.
Thanks Rob !

I am so far behind in my correspondence. Please forgive me for being so late with my post to yout comment.

I am happy that I could bring back some memories with my Teddy Bear image. Isn't it sad how your first best friend ends up in a dark closet or in the attic? But they will wait for us anytime we need a person to te our troubles to. And will always keep our secrets.

Hi Rob, as I said, the items in the remember when photo are only some of the items around my home. Pictured are: Mrs. Butterworth "Glass"(I don't have a tin), next is a mercury bottle, an oiling can, an Avon lilac bottle, a mentholatum jar, a vaseline lip ice tube and last is a railroad lantern-6 volt and it still works! also are pictured 2 railroad spikes, a large screw and an old metal trivet.

Good morning Rob
Loving your series on the log house. Some memories that you may enjoy, but would, I think, not be appropriate posted on the image:
When was living in the almost-desert of inland Australia a number of years ago (about 500 miles inland and approximately 20 miles south of the Queensland border), we had a "social club", and the building was a big log cabin, albeit only a single story. Have many good memories, as after a hard day in our mines (Opal fields) it was a place we could go to relax, wash the dust down and just sometimes be entertained by visiting entertainers instead of by each others antics. However, the bark had been left on those pine trees - was great for scratching the back between the shoulder blades, as it was extremely difficult to get hard working/hard fighting/hard drinking men to do that chore for me <grinning> And even more dangerous to ask any of the women folk to do the task <laughing>.
Enjoy your day

Your comments mean a great deal to me. I am so very pleased that you took the time to visit my Mountain Stream #6 image. I hope that the running water gave you hope that it will warm up again. Soon I pray! Thank you for your comment.

Good morning Rob
Many thanks for your comments and appreciation for "Insie Winsie". Very much enjoyed your dialogue - did the swelling eventually settle <grinning>, or are you now ensconsed in a cocoon of soft webbing?
Not normally afraid of spiders myself, must admit to a little reluctance around spiders as big as this, but it turned out happy to remain placid. Had actually bumped into an edge of the web before seeing it (teach me to walk where I'm watching lol), and spent the next two days looking for the (imaginary) spiders I was certain were crawling over me <laughing>.
Enjoy your day

Hey Rob, your "guesses" on Diner Reflections were 100% accurate. I'm impressed! Is there some science / engineering / technology in your background? The only subtle detail that you didn't comment on is the red neon lights inside the diner which were refracted through the glass blocks. I don't know the age of the diner, but the next time I'm in Athens, Ohio (where my middle son goes to college and the diner is located), I'll check; my guess is you're pretty close on that as well. I took several dozen pics of the reflections and had great fun doing it; hope you enjoyed figuring them out!

Well, Rob it looks like your "Remember When" assignment was a real hit. I like the fact that it wasn't so much an issue of just seeing something and shooting it. It took careful planning, and it took concentrated thought to come up with a way to communicate a thought or an idea. It was an art assignment, not so much a test of popularity. Thanks for your idea.

Rob;
I am very late with my correspondence to you. Please forgive the delay. Your input is important to me so pleases don't feel that I have avoided you.
Thanks for all of the nice comments about The old Mill image. It is next to impossible to get to where this image was created due to washed out roads and rock slides. In many ways this is good, however the sad part is it is very difficult getting there to get a photograph. You are corect! You have seen this building from anthing from fine art to an ad for butter. This is one of those photographs that you are required to have if you are a photographer in Colorado. It never fails. At any gallery or hanging that I have ever done, someone will approach and say,"Do you Have a Photographof the Old Mill?" I always answer,"No, but I have a photograph with the Old Mill in it" It seems that every photographer has stood at the edge of this steep drop and photographed the bilding. I attempted to give it more depth by moving away from the edge. I am pleased that you have seen this building before but I hope that you like mine better. This building is located near Marble Colorado. It was a saw mill at one time. That is about all that is known about it since all history of that old ghost town has been lost with time. The river that it sits above is the Crystal river,

I´m pleased to see you found the Wooden Star at last and that you regard it as a good photo. The door photo is taken from the same cabin and it is rather interesting too, knowing it´s the original door. Hopefully the images are a good addition to your series.
Thanks Rob for viewing and commenting !
