Catherine Falls, Chilikoot Inlet was a surprise treat. We passed the falls to port on the way to Haines at about 42 knots, but there was so much chop that I couldn't get enough shutter speed to get a decent image because of the rain and overcast.
On the return trip to Skagway, he powered down the boat about 150 meters from the falls, and opened the forward hatch for the photogs.
Alaskans treat tourists extremely well.
Some of the tree harvesting and environmental restrictions have caused a great deal of unemployment under the current administration and many Alaskans are finding niches in the tourist trade.
Hi, Cindy. Many thanks for your comments on Vancouver Blues.
While the botanical gardens have a superb collection of plant, they are a tad light on identification. Their identity must remain a mystery until I find some that are tagged.
Hey Cindy! Thanks for the great comment on Axolotl :) - yes they are fantastic little things hehe...I'm always being inspired by random things, and at such inconvenient times too! I couldn't wait to get home and sketch her out lol! Take care x
Thanks for looking at the weird Devil's Hole in the Lost Sea Cave Cindy it's big claim to fame it's America's largest underground lake. You take a 3/4 mile cave walking tour complete with a boat trip around the low lit lake stocked with trout the tour guide tosses fish food into the water and the big trout come alongside the boat and gobble it down. It's no great shakes but OK.
I posted a springtime picture because autumn has not arrived in the Southern US and I have not downloaded my Colorado trip photo's yet. Glad you liked it Cindy!
Thank you for your nice comment of Where Eagles Soar Cindy Sorry no creds today..for some reason after I used 3 it said I had no more. I thought they replenished them every day. I hope you are not too heartbroken over it..smile!
Glad you dropped by for a visit at my Coco Plum Cabana Cindy! Hope you had a fun time, the door is always open you are Welcome back anytime! I took this picture because I liked the color combination of the blue chairs and coco plum
Hi Cindy glad you took the "Steep Climb" and didn't get carsick! the road runs right beneath many great mountains including the highest in the state (14,433 foot Mount Elbert), and rises well above the treeline into the stark Alpine tundra zone, while also passing lakes, rivers, steep-sided valleys, thick forests of fir and extensive aspen groves. Highway 82 is usually open for only six months of the year, from late May to late October, I appreciate your wonderful comment very much!
I think the place may have gone overboard with Flowers Galore! it seems a bit gaudy and I cut a slice off the flag..some true blue patriot might find that insulting. I don't know if I like the picture or not oh well it just can sit there until I figure it out...thanks for smelling the flowers Cindy! With all the sweetness in the air I hope you can smell your steak grillin!
The Long Journey is the 75 mile "Top of the Rockies" byway one of Colorados 25 Scenic Byways. American National Scenic Byways are in all 50 states....I read up about the byways for each state I visit here is the URL if you are interested http://byways.org/ Thank you for the super comment Cindy!
329 really is my land claim on the moon. I was keeping it hush hush to get in early and grab up a premium location before the moon rush begins...thanks for commenting Cindy
Sapphire Point describes the color of the lake water perfectly and is the same spot as "Chipmunk Dance" from last year The chipmunks are still there but the hilltop covered in tall firs had all been cut down due to a beetle infestation. It is a chilly Alpine lake and too cold for swimming but great for sailing. I don't think they even allow motorboats only non motorized craft..thank you for your kind words Cindy!
Cindy- Thanks for the fave on 'The Wedding'. I am anxiously awaiting the photographer's photo files, available in a week or so. (RAW and jpeg, so I'll be able to set up prints, etc.) Thad
Colorado is too cold for me. I don't ski, hate to shovel snow and wear heavy winters coats, That is a big reason why I moved down south. The heated outdoor pool and hot tubs were heavenly and in the bathroom they had a water extractor where you can press all the excess water out of your bathing swim I never seen one of those before plus they had free fresh baked cookies everyday at 4 in the lobby...it's amazing what dopey things impress me. Thank you for your lovely comment about "Grand Timber Lodge" Cindy!
Thanks Cindy for enjoying my sweet treat in my Santa photo if you ate everything in the picture it would come to 3 million calories and 1500 lbs of chocolate..it took them 500 hours to make it. Sorry I have not commented much lately I simply got all photo'ed out.
Cindy - Thank you for faving "Denali Landscape'. The beauty of Alaska is difficult to describe, and photos don't show the vastness of the mountain landscape. I am pleased that you liked this view. Thad
Thanks Cindy for your comments on "Boxed In". Glad you enjoyed the image. It's basically nothing more than a random bunch of pixels. Have a lovely day. ~Wendell
I sold the canoe shortly afterwards. It was heavy lifting onto the car roof all the time and figure I can just rent one for a couple of hours if I want to explore a waterway. Thanks for viewing the Rocky River Cindy. PS I will be gone to HHI all next week..
Hi Cindy ,Thanks for the comment on Mike The Tiger . He's pretty laid back and loves his swimming pool. He's a celebrity at LSU someone is always looking at him talking to him or taking his picture. He is from a Big Cat rescue in Indiana. The rescue donated him to LSU . He's got a good home since he can't live in the wild .
Hi Cindy , Thanks for the comment on Pray For The Gulf . I was very taken by peoples reaction to the cross . Sad time in the Gulf the world for that matter.
I have seen plenty of sunrise/sunsets in my lifetime but this one truly took my breath away. I was mesmerized by the colors, hues and how astounding it was. the sky at times looked like molten lava..thanks Cindy!
"Wow! Nice work done here, David. Did you use a star filter or after effects or is that just as the lights were on that night?"
Thanks for the complements :) Just used Lightroom to crop and tweak the image. No filters. The image started out pretty washed out with lens flare from the stadium lights. Bringing out the contrast enhanced the star pattern that was already very evident in the unedited image.

"Quite nicely done" Thank you Cindy. "Who's the model?" Best not to say less he become a rich, and famous celebrity leaving this poor starving photographer without a free model to use for such things... His vanity is already all but unbearable ;)

hi Cynlee-- thank you for commenting on so many of my Morocco pictures (more still to come). I've been twice, and actually have not been to see Chellah either time somehow :(
thanks for your latest comment, cynlee--- that particular building was not a caravanserai, but I do have an image of one that I'll be uploading in a few days! :)
the tanneries smelled worse this time than the first time I visited them haha, but this time we were also given huge sprigs of mint to sniff on, it helped!
thanx for commenting on 'dandelion macro'...the lens is a 30mm f/3.5 (for a sony nex camera)...it will focus, even while touching whatever your shooting :)
Hi Cindy, thanks for your comment on 'What you can learn from Caedes'. Im so pleased the rework has been recieved so well. Much appreciate the affirmation.

The roses are from a dear neighbor, I have not enough sun in the same place to have roses in my "Jungle garden" lol Too much high trees. But my neighbor has a beautiful roses garden, so I go there time to time to take photos.
Some people have Gurus, I have my camera. Through the cam lenses I have learnt to deeply perceive life, not only to see, but to look at all expressions of nature, becoming able to read the poetry of the flowers, receiving the embrace of the trees and flying above the clouds without wings! - Susie Sun
Hello Cindy, I am so happy you like "The town square". Nora is s very quaint and beautiful small town where many people love to go for a visit. Thank you for taking it to your faves.
My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
Cindy - Thank you for the have of 'A Corny Shot'. I wasn't sure how this shot would work as I was trying to minimize the sunlight behind the scene. In all, I was pleased. Glad you were, too. Thad

We drive on the right, but I don't drive, Milka was driving. But she stopped there and we were both shooting. We had a wonderful time. Have a nice weekend, Cindy.
