Thank you Don for your kind words about The Gatehouse. Canterbury is quite a town with lots of things of interest in it. I was glad I had my camera with me this time. Have a great weekend Don.

Hello Don ... Thanks for stopping by I Was ... Were You?. Appreciate your "welcome back" ... I surely missed posting at Caedes and it felt good receiving comments from old friends ... Thanks again.
Hi Don, thankyou so much for commenting on Crashing Splash. We dont get hurricanes over here as we dont have the warm waters but we do get hurricane strength winds and the day after i shot this photo was one of the worst i have ever seen. We heard on the news in the evening the a 5 yr old girl was swept away by a swollen river less than a couple of miles away from where i was standing. I cant imagine how people must cope with proper hurricanes!

Many thanks Don for your kind comment on "Angelo"! It is my wife's favorite site in Rome, too! There's something about the place that attracts you: the smell, the shape, the steep circular walkway to top...It is a lovely place indeed!

Thanks Don for your kind comment on "Ponte Vecchio"! Firenze is one of my top favorites in Europe, mainly because of Dante Alighieri and his Divine Comedy.

It's Lucerne Don! I quote the 2nd and 3rd paragraphs of Mark Twain's "A Tramp Abroad" , Chapter 26, down below (link: http://www.worldwideschool.org/library/books/lit/marktwain/ATrampAbroad/chap26.html) :
The commerce of Lucerne consists mainly in gimcrackery of the souvenir sort; the shops are packed with Alpine crystals, photographs of scenery, and wooden and ivory carvings. I will not conceal the fact that miniature figures of the Lion of Lucerne are to be had in them. Millions of them. But they are libels upon him, every one of them. There is a subtle something about the majestic pathos of the original which the copyist cannot get. Even the sun fails to get it; both the photographer and the carver give you a dying lion, and that is all. The shape is right, the attitude is right, the proportions are right, but that indescribable something which makes the Lion of Lucerne the most mournful and moving piece of stone in the world, is wanting.
The Lion lies in his lair in the perpendicular face of a low cliff--for he is carved from the living rock of the cliff. His size is colossal, his attitude is noble. How head is bowed, the broken spear is sticking in his shoulder, his protecting paw rests upon the lilies of France. Vines hang down the cliff and wave in the wind, and a clear stream trickles from above and empties into a pond at the base, and in the smooth surface of the pond the lion is mirrored, among the water-lilies.
Hi Don, thankyou for you comment on Little Lily and for the supportive message you left me. I absolutely love my new job. I feel like ive been waiting for this for so long, wanting to make a difference to peoples lives and share with them my love for geography. I feel like teaching has made me whole, although im so tired i can barely think! Bring on the holidays :)

Hello Don, thanks for your comment to one of my Neuschwanstein postings, realy apriciated !
Yes that mad Ludwig had a good taste and view where to put a castle or 2 or 3 indeed. What i specialy like is that he did this at the edge of the Alps. looking in 1 direction, all you see is mountains, and to another direction, all flat :-) Great work.
Thanks again for having a look at one of my postings.
Thanks for checking out my photo Woven. Your comments are much appreciated. That old stump is a big one we brought down from the mountain cabin my brother owns. It is a dandy by itself but the Morning Glories seemed to really brighten it up.
