I am a Yank who spent a month recently in QLD with a bunch of scientists/naturalists exploring the wilderness on a daily basis. A total immersion, a total wipeout, and a total blast. It was one of the greatest trips of my life, and I find Australia one of the greatest countries I have ever visited. Enthralling, contrary, tough, and magnificent.
