Hi, I just discovered this section of the site. Thanks to both of you for the welcome. And no, I'm not a sailor...I'm a professor/cancer research scientist. Means that I travel a fair amount to meetings and conferences (and take along my camera)!
Hello Miriam. Just wanted to thank you for the encouragement on (Here Comes The Sun). The sun tricked me and never actually showed up, but I love the images that I was able to get even with the sun hidden. I just don't have the opportunity to see that time of day very often (ever), so the shots are special to me :). I've really enjoyed some of your images as well. Thanks again!
Thanks Miriam. I’m glad you liked “Fall Reflected”. That was one of my fun images. I was standing in the water up to my knees. It was a warm day and the cold water sure felt good
Hi Miriam. Your pictures of Rome are wonderful! I took 10 rolls of film during my 5-day visit back in February - I hope to upload the 2 or 3 "good" ones to caedes.net soon! Thanks for bringing back all my good memories! -Courtney
Hi Miriam. Thank you for the comment on (Top Down). I was standing on the mountain when I took that picture, but we took a cogwheel train to get most of the way to the top, and went back down via cable-cars. There was only a lesser degree of climbing up some treacherous iced-over steps to get to the very top. It was definitely worth it :)
'Tis my pleasure. MmmMMmm.. beignets! I can imagine what it would be like to have an image remind you of a certain experience at that point in time. It came across as a personal photograph at first glance. Gotta love the washed-out mauve walls.
Hello Miriam, I am glad to see another lover of ancient architecture and sculpture. I wish I had the talent you have for taking photos when I visited Rome. I'll go back one day with a billion mega pixel camera and blow everyone's socks off ;)
Well done on the night time captures, they are really tricky!
I went to Kensington, and well London in general, the summer of 2003. I went with a student group called People to People, and we went to Greece, Italy, France, and England, in a span of 3 weeks. I want to go back to all of the places though, on my own time, everything was rushed and I only had a bunch of disposable cameras at the time.
Hi! I was a guard when i do my military duty...We were 4 persons who work 2 hours shift
2 hours on 2 hours rest ,day and night. We did that for 5 days and we were pretty exhausted after that....Thank you for your interest!
Loved the shots of Rome - Fantastic city. Particularly liked 'Up on the roof' as it reminds me of the view from my hotel. I will never forget my time in the Eternal City and your pictures help to take me back to wondering around for hours soaking up the history and culture, not to mention the odd Peroni or two at pavement cafe!!
Thank you Miriam for stopping by and commenting on "Afternoon Weather". I am really glad that you like it.
The aim of every artist is to arrest motion, which is life, by artificial means and hold it fixed so that a hundred years later, when a stranger looks at it, it moves again since it is life. Since man is mortal, the only immortality possible for him is to leave something behind him that is immortal since it will always move. This is the artist’s way of scribbling; “Kilroy was here” on the wall of the final and irrevocable oblivion through which he must someday pass.
