Image: Taking Root

And.. one more from the parameter archives that has been retooled/tweaked.

This spawned "Warmth" that currently resides in my galleries.

But.. I kind of, sort of.. always held the thought in my pea brain that I had over-processed/edited that one.

As well as, losing the side detail of the 'root-like' structure that I did like and hence, the title here.

Feel free to share your thoughts and constructive critiques.

Thanks for commenting on my "Lovey Dovey" pic. I actually took this shot vertically but due to the caeds size requirements, I was forced to "mod" it. It looks a lot better in the original shot. :)

Hello there Mr PurMusic.
Good choise of name,'cause what you say really sounds like music in my ears.
Glad you found my gallery. I liked your detailed commentary very much!
As for your suggestions: I am not a studio photograph (except for the Stormdancer), but just a "daddy" dragging his kids and dog around to wherever they want to go and who takes shots during the proces. Almost like a tourist (well I hope not really).
The consequence is of course that I don't really get the time to think over a composition until afterwards, when I view my photo's on the PC. So, I guess you are right about some shots, that they could have been better. But under the circumstances I am content with result. And whenever people like yourself are kind enough to comment on the images it makes me happy and I do bear in mind their critics the next time I play my toursit act.

Hey, nice hearing of you, let's stay in touch!

About Rocks and Water. No filters. I do believe I did a one click photo fix in image expert 2000. If I remember it just sort of enhanced the colors a little. Not really change them. The orange of the water is caused by the setting sun reflecting on the water. I noticed that when I was taking the picture. The color of the water is pretty much the way Niagara River looks. I am glad you enjoyed looking at my picture. It's one of my favorites. It's nice to hear from someone else who sees some of the same things in it that I see.

Hello, it’s me again. You have been busy tonight :-)

The colour in the water at “Turbulent Beauty” is all natural. It is the result of sand stirred up by wave action and reflections from a rather nice sunrise.

The colour saturation could be improved at “Sumersby Falls Lower level” but I didn’t have the skill or know how back then to do it without destroying the colour accuracy :-)

“Delightfully Seedy”. I think there is a place for the 3rds rule, however rules were made for breaking.

Sorry about “Mystic Water”, I haven’t worked out how to set it to music… yet.

At my photo “Sumersby Falls Lower Level” you said you don’t know much about photography, I beg to differ. The comments you left in my gallery tonight are the words of someone who has an observant and appreciative eye for photography. I don’t know if you make photographs, but I have no doubt you could be very good at it if you wanted to be. I truly appreciate your many comments tonight and I’m humbled to read that you chose “Gap Creek Falls” as your first wallpaper from Caedes.

Thanks for viewing and commenting on my Amicalola Creek 1 image. I appreciate your support of this image. This image was taken in open shade at iso 50, f11 and around 1/20 exposure with a slow fill flash to fill in the shadows. I metered off of the highlights. The longer exposure is a personal choice for effect, sharpness, depth of field and tonal quality. This is a digital image.

Stir Fry Starter Kit was just the starting items for my stir fry. I added garlic, sugar peas, broccoli, bean sprouts, water chestnuts, baby corn, shrimp, chicken and a stir fry sauce. The original ingredients were just too pretty not to use for a still life. I'm glad you like it. Thanks for the nice comments. I appreciate your support of this image. This was a spur of the moment image and the "table" was an old 2'x4' shelf board. It was taken outside in open shade with a black velvet backdrop. I chose food/drink because I cooked it right after the photo was taken.

Thanks for viewing and commenting on my On Golden Pond 5 photo. The fish was the hardest part of this image to manipulate. It took a while to get it to look like it was under water. The trees and leaf reflection was given a wind ripple along with the ring ripple. This was a series of progression in learning to use layers and filters. A later evolution had what appeared to be a dead cat floating in the water with a fish pecking at it.

Jekyll Island Sunrise was the reason I didn't stay home and go to work on that Monday morning. We drove to the coast for a day trip one Sunday in August and decided to spend the night. I'm glad we did. We had a good time and any day taking photos instead of working is a good day. Thanks for the nice comments. I'm very pleased that you like this image. I used a slow fill flash to bring out some detail in the foreground.

Hello,

Thank you for your gorgeous comment on the "classicisstic facade". I really appreciate it. I am glad you liked it so much. I have to admit I was lucky. The natural light was perfect. I did not have to change anything in the photoshop.
I guess I have made many people laugh. Imagine a person kneeling in front of the church on the crossing, in some funny poses trying to get the photo.

Once again many "thank yous" for your positive feedback on the "sunset". This really was one of the best sunsets of my life. That is perhaps why so many people love it, it was just unquestionably magnificent.
The positive thing about it is that you do not need any money, any long distance treavelling to admire such miracles.

Hi there, Thanks for your comments about the Shot of the Aberdulais Falls. I do get your point, the whiteness of the water takes over a bit too much, certainly being in the centre. The problem I had is that I had to have a long opening to get the colours brighter in the background. Having no filter and not keen on modifying my pictures, this can cause a bit of a problem sometimes. This session was also my first attempt with long shutter openings, so I'm sure I will be able to rectify this in my future sessions! Many thanks!

Hi there,

You found my secret reclusive "swampy territory". Dark and powerful, isn't it? Of course I could spare you the harshness of the light, but at the time I uploaded this photo I did not use much of the photoshop except for the frames functionality, lol. I could work on most of my photos, but it would take time to correct them all and reupload one by one. Instead I can only invite you to investigate my new works, which can enjoy the final touch in the photoshop. Perhaps I will improve a few old photos (I have started from cathedral in Frombork) but this will be a long process. And ... and I would like to inform you that a new photo has arrived.

You do me great honors with your comments on "A River of Liquid Light". When I see a subject I look beyond what it is and into what it can be. Before I ever make that image, I know what the results will be, because that is what I saw when I first looked at it.
Also, I'm pleased you liked "Palouse Farmland".

Hello Les,

Wow, what an impressive journey you made to my gallery. Thank you so much for your feedback. Now, let me refer to your accurate remarks.

As far as "cucumber frog" - to tell you the truth I have already cropped the frog. It used to be much, much smaller, but fortunately the image was very sharp so I was able to make a closeup out of it. If I crop it again I will lose the sharpness I am afraid.

You amaze me, I guess you are my favourite "critic". Your comments are always so fresh and crisp, lol. I have to admit you are right about the "city hall in Gdansk". Unfortunately to see the photo elements separated: the Neptun and the town hall you have to wait a couple of months till my next trip to Gdansk. I guess the photo would look better if I worked a bit on the light exposure and the saturation.

I would like to thank you for your nice words on "light effect" and "sunlit alley". These are actually the images where I tried to convey the atmosphere of the place, of the moment, of the light. I guess these are the most difficult for me due to the limitations of my camera. That is why it is great satisfaction to hear that they are much appreciated.

And last but not least the "glittering gold". That was just an incredibly beautiful maple tree alley" - she deserves all the praises. It is awsome and soon I will upload some more captures. I spotted it on the calendar and decided to make a trip to Jurassic Upland just to visit this alley (and the medieval ruins), can you imagine.

I have to say I noticed some changes in your perception as well. I guess you are more focused, you notice some small mistakes nad make some good suggestions. They contribute a lot to the development of my skills. So it is high time I appointed you a permanent resident of my gallery ;). Remember, you are always welcome.
When I look back at my "oldies" I see the difference. I think I improved the composition and the colour. And I take advantage of the photoshop functionalities much more often than before (fortunately or unfortunately, that is the question).

Stay tuned
Ewa

Hi! Thanks for your comments on "Sunlight on Cliffs". I took this shot in the Noosa National Park while hiking with my bf. I was about five metres or so away - the rock face in the imavge was one side of a chasm and I was perched on the other side!! I too love the crater features! Further investigation probably not an option thou - the zoom on my camera is not too crash hot and that side of the chasm was for all intensive purposes inaccessable!!

Thank you also for your kind comments on "Circles in the stone"!

Thanks for the wonderful comments at Bonfire Close-up. When I take pictures I usually take 20-30 shots of basically the same thing at different angles and debths and lighting. Then when I get them into the computer I can decide better what is pleasing to the eye. I consider all of the things that you mention here. It's nice to hear from someone that sees a lot of the same things that I do.

Thanks for leaving a comment on Morning View. I'm glad you liked it and thanks for the in depth analysis ;) Yeah, I manage to capture these images. I'm always taking pics of Mother Nature... just seems to be one of the most 'real' things to me. Hope you had a chance to see the other two I have posted. Thanks again!

Once again my friend.... thanks for your comments. I'm glad you liked what you saw. I love my camera. At the right time, I capture the natural light from the atmosphere and produce some riveting images without enhancements. Guess it takes a good eye too ;) Thanks again!

Hey Les, thanks so much for your kind words on "ClassicsShow." and by the way, the A&W in my town was one of two for almost 20 years. If it weren't for our support there may have been no A&W's left today. Ours still has the original menu - I have never heard of a teenburger but if its A&W its got to be good!

Hi Les,

You really amaze me: never tired, never spiteful... it seems you are very warm-hearted and cheerful person. Your comments always so elaborate and optimistic. It is unbelievable you are able to find a comforting word for everybody. I wish I could do so.

I see you've made a journey throughout my gallery lately. And I found some new extensive comments on my last works I am so grateful for. Starting with the"port in Gdansk" capture... You are absolutely right about the time contrast, that was actually my first thougt when I arrived at the spot (was it a rhyme, lol). The weather was fine, it would be a great loss for the mankind not to make this moment immortal, lol. As to my commentaries - you know most Ceades members have never been in Poland, so I guess it is useful to provide them with some information, to introduce them into the subject... Anyway some may feel encouraged to visit the beautiful places from my images one day and this is what I would call my small contribution.

As to the "fall colour palette" - this is actuall my most well-studied capture. To have one or two great shots I spent an hour kneeling in front of the leaves composition taking hundreds of snapshots... Among others this is what I call camera limitations. I have to admit though the result was very good.

And finally "early October" - I guess much has been already said about this miracolous alley... Every time I go there it seems a completely different place. It changes with the sun travel. Looks inviting in the morning, very contrasting in the midday and so warm in the aftrenoon. Now it is turning yellow. I feel obliged to record its evolution. Soon you can expect the yellow version. There is only one thing that troubles me about that alley - I am in desperate need of a tripod.

Stay tuned.
Ewa

The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in learning to open my eyes. - Paul Gerritsen
Now Les, - Marcel Proust - he could not descibe better how I feel and look at the world.
When I was young I was convinced that Holland was the most boring country in the world, flat, green and wet. Now that I am beginning to learn to open my eyes I am convinced that Holland is the most beautiful country in the world (just as all other countries in the world)....

Thank you so much Les. I've been getting so much encouragement, and right when I've needed it. Lately I'd been feeling like my work wasn't worth anything and that I would never go anywhere with it, but people have been awesome to me, you being an example of one. Thanks again, and I don't truely think you know how much it means. These are my responses on the images -

Reflections - "Thank you Les =) A lot." and to add something to that, I myself was surprised how well this shot turned out and it has been one of my favorites.

Tulip-" lol, thanks =) In reply to the layers, I actually didn't use any more than one layer on the image. This is all original to the "canvas" (if you will) as is all of my work . I do see what you mean, however. Thank you for the suggestion =)"

Midnight - " I love this image, but I've always felt the same about the scale issues. You have a very good eye and a discerning tongue ;-) Thanks again"
