rachel, since I will have the distinction of appearing first on your comment list, please allow me to welcome you to Caedes. I hope your experience will be as rewarding to you as it has been to us.
I want to thank you for viewing my "Among Many Alone" and leaving such a kind comment. I will be looking forward to seeing your posts in the future. - John
Hi Rachel. No you are not going crazy in seeing an eye (The Lair 4). That's what it is supposed to look like. It was taken in a cave, though.. not a real eye. Though I thought it did appear to be one when I first saw it. If you visit that pic again, you'll see part 4 of a poem. The pic is one in a series, with a poem/story that is unfolding. cheers, Quiet PS. Oh, and welcome to caedes!!!
Thanks Rachel for commenting on "A Place To Sit." I have spent a few moments of my life sitting there, catching my breath, and looking for snakes! - John
Rachel - thanks for commenting on "Wide Flowers 2." I am sum what embarassed about WF1 and WF2 in that I do not know the names of the flowers I shot, so I was at a loss to include anything of substance in my narrative. - your friend John
Rachel, that is very perceptive of you! That is exactly what was running through my head at the time I was getting ready to take the shot. Thank you so very much for stopping by and commenting on Advance of the Storm. ~ John
Rachel, your comment on "A Red and Blue Playground" was filled with warmth and sensitivity. I think I may have reread it several times now. I do attempt to mold stories and moods into my photos with the use of color, shadows, and light. I hope that I am subtle but I am not always successful. To me, the photograph is the beginning and not the ending of the artistic endeavor. Your comment is very special to me and I thank you for it. Happy New Year! ~ John
Hi Rachel, there was a Arts and Crafts festival going on at the time of this photo, "Summer Relaxation." You can see some of the white tents off to the left. Many thanks for your comments. ~ John

Hi Rachel, thanks for commenting on "Tracks Across A Morning." I was very "lucky" to be stopped by this steel dragon on my way to my favorite metro part. Fortunately, I had my camera bag on the seat beside me. ~ John

Hi Rachel. Thanks for noticing my first macro, "Self Contained." I love to experiment with form and style, colors and light, and of course, shadows. And, it is always pleasing when someone notices you are up to something. Your friend, John.

Hi Rachel, thanks for commenting on "Eight Degrees In Company of the Foolish." I had climbed down to the edge of the bank to get that shot. I wasn't going to step on the ice. Not that I care about my safety, the restraint was for the protection of my camera, lol. So, the tree was there and would not move, and I could not get further in front of it without compromising the safety of my equipment. I could have tried cloning it out, but I am only average to below average at cloning. So I kept it and tell folks it is there to add depth of field. ;) ~ John
Hi Rachel, prior to taking "Frozen Lake," I carefully laid my camera back down in the car, removed my axe, and dropped the tree you see in the foreground. There was no way I was going to have a tree blocking our view this time. ;) Once again, many thanks for commenting on one of my shots, I do appreciate it. ~ John
“For a long time it puzzled me how something so expensive, so leading edge, could be so useless, and then it occurred to me that a computer is a stupid machine with the ability to do incredibly smart things, while computer programmers are smart people with the ability to do incredibly stupid things. They are, in short, a perfect match.”
Hi Rachel, I just wanted to thank you for commenting on "Frozen Berries." I have no idea what kind of berry those are, but keep in mind that the animals around it have not eaten them yet! ~~ John
Hi Rachel and thank you for your warm remarks on "Bouquet." I have only recently downloaded Apo and my toes are barely wet at this point. I have a huge learning curve before me. ~~ John
Hi Rachel. Thank you for noticing the emotions in "Shadows Of The Hideaway." I felt that besides fear and anxiety, there is passion in the picture, too! ~~ John
Hi Rachel, I took the time and looked at your art that you have displayed here. You have a fresh way of looking at somethings, and I like that. Keep it up.

Thank you for commenting on "Fearful". Well, I find the spiders in the garden of my boyfriend's grandmother. :) Mostly when it's not that hot outside and especially at night. I am really affraid of them, and I am shaking almost all the time when I am near them. So, to have a nice photo to upload, I take 20 shots shaking, till I get used to it :)) (kidding). It depends how big they are :P If I find bigger ones, I take one shot and run :)) My boyfriend is always laughing when I go and search for spiders :) I wonder how long will he stand it :P So, thank you for your funny comment, and I am glad you think that the photo it's nice. Have a great day!
