Sometimes you just do something really silly. Such was the case last week when I missed out on this image by driving away from my photo-shoot One Minute Before Sunrise, so this weekend after my long-suffering wife endured two days of ill-temper, I decided to try again this morning. This time I parked on the side of the highway fifteen minutes before sunrise, turned on my hazard indicator lights, and began snapping photos. About forty images later this was the result. My wife will be glad to have her husband back I am sure. **

You know it's sad that when you live in a place (like New Orleans) you just don't see the beauty that's all around you. I see others' work, and I think, "Wow! That's New Orleans?", but yes, I do need to take advantage of the fact that it's a pretty town. Thanks for the welcome.

Thanks for your comment on One Room Schoolhouse . The bldg. in shadow from one tree was the idea behind this paticular shot. I went back last week to take a few more pictures of this building in sunlight and found that it had collapsed into a pile of logs. Farewell.Old School.

Hi. "M & C" is magnificent. Yes, the name is a family name - from Regina and Othmar, my grandparents. She was Creole, and his family was German. The family is rife with wierd names like Djhama, Nemmes, Errelle, Larien, etc. I guess some folks are just lucky :-(

Thanks for the comment on (Easy Street), Regmar. I'll be on the lookout for my sunny day shot and I will keep that in mind when I get it. For this one I chose the black and white and added a hint of orange hue to age the picture. I always like to experiment with different moods for a good photo :)

I was looking over you gallery and the black and white photos you have are brilliant! i like black and white photos they really show quality and they add mysterious effects to the image which you wouldn’t get from a colour photo, coz they tell you the whole story, if u get what i mean!

Cheers Regmar, nah I'm not in the south of France very often, that was a one-off holiday. That village was beautiful, on the verge of tacky, with flowers oozing from every corner. I was actually surprised that the picture "where's the hot pie?" was the only one from there that made it into the permanent galleries.

first thank you for your nice complement on my "The Endless River of Styx" and second i do agree about the b&w comment you had said. 3rd the pic indeed was in color. there was that confusion with an other winter pic i took thats on this site. the colors in the pic are black and white but i didnt edit it to make it that way the creek just looked black that day (and i may have increased the contrast a little so that might have increased the blackness of the creek).

About 'declining sun': it's a scanned photo. I took it during a journey in France, but I was very disappointed when I received my photos :-(

Don't worry, there are plenty of other beautiful places waiting for you ! Especially because you can spot places and angles that i wouldn't have noticed...
I think that any place can make a good photo, everything is in the way you take it. I only take nice photos because places are nice (e.g. annecy), but i am far from having an artist eye...
What about posting your B&W photos of carcassonne & co ? (only if you want to, of course) They would really please caedes people !
