In response to your critique on "Artopolis Times - Fare Hike" - Yes, I agree...the "cartoony" compositions are more appealing to most. Unfortunitely for me, I mostly think in the "Ad/Promotional" configuration (i.e. Ads, Brochures, Catalogs, Newsletters, etc..) simply because that is what pays the bills...

Heya Sam! Thanks for the comments on "special relativity"! Actually chess is the most complicated "game" there is. Literally tens of thousands books have been written on it or about it. There's even arguments out there about whether is should be called a game, there is no luck in it what so ever...it's all skill. You must be able to think deeper into the position than your opponent, see all the variations that may arise out of each move. All the while keeping your eye on the endgame, knowing how the position will play out to that point. I could go on and on talking about the various aspects, the opening, the middle, the endgame....I'll sum it by saying chess was created by the gods.

hey Sam.. im glad youve enjoyed my b&w photos.. the N.O.L.A. stands for the location of the photos.. N.O.L.A. = New Orleans, Louisiana.. the 9th Ward is an area of New Orleans that used to be lower income housing and projects.. It is also the location of one of the levee breaches during Hurricane Katrina.. These photos have been more of a reminder to everyone that things are still very bad in some parts of the city.. I'm really just playing around with different stuff because I don't know what I am doing. Hey Sam - Not only do my images give you something to say, they give me things to think about. I can't and won't try to figure out why some images appeal to me or to you or to anyone else, for that matter. I want and like input from different people. Because you give long and thoughtful comments, I very much look forward to your reactions to my postings.
Okay..now on this one, it's meant to look like a quilt and actually does. I'm thinking about TRYING to make this. I like it very much, but perhaps it's not the best image for a desktop. It's very bright and geometric and maybe even a bit glaring. I have it on my desktop right now and like it, but my sensibilities are different from yours. I look at it as a quilt.
It does add variety, though.
Anyhow, thanks for more of your feedback. I like to see what you have to say. I really do appreciate your comments.

Hey Sam - You're the only person who has seemed to understand what I did with The Positive and the Negative. It wasn't just a way for people to see my face and know what I look like, this was in fact a self-portrait in that I tried to convey a sense of who I am. Isn't that what a self-portrait is supposed to do? The newer photo (IMHO) gives an idea of the smart-mouth who leaves weird comments all over this site, while the younger photo (again, IMHO) shows the more serious aspects of my personality. The title has multiple meanings and refers to more than the use of positive/negative imagery. Thanks for the deeper look into this post.

Sam! It IS a quilt, and...and...you liked it! Kill me now, 'cause I wanna die happy! LOL! (Sorry, but you set yourself up for that!)

Anyhow, thanks for the kudos. I like this quilt very much and I'm glad that others seem to share my (humble) opinion that it turned out quite well. I appreciate the comments, as usual.

Kat.

Hi Sam! The greener idea would be a full colored version. I had a migraine and trying to type and think at the same time wasn't working too well! I did like the idea though, but then again, I am partial to color over black and white. Please keep them coming.

Hello Sam,
Regarding the 'end of winter' you are absolutely right. This is an extremely bleak, gloomy, hopeless end of winter - there is nothing optimistic or promising about the image. It simply has to be like that because this is reality. What the future brings is just another story - I do long for bright colours and sunshine so much, but detest oppresive heat - so I am grouchy old female LOL
Thanks for your kind comment and best regards.

Hi Sam. Thanks for your interesting comments on my last Alsace photos :-)
Alsace in summer is very nice too, with tasty Riesling or Gewurztramminer white wines... Thanks again!
