Hey Cain. Thank you for looking at all my stuff (not that it's that much). My pictures aren't worth your time yet, but your comments are like publicity for me. It still hasn't snowed to much here and the leaves have all fallen, so it may be a while longer for the pictures. I am not a great photographer and wasn't planning on posting those pictures online, but I suppose I could try. Thanks for the inspiration and help.
glad you're going to show us Minnesota^^. thanks for fulfilling my selfish wish^^ lol
to answer your question, I think it's up to you... if you think your shots need to be manipulated. maybe you could test the levels in photoshop, brighten some pictures a bit if they're too dark, and play with black and white picture? I don't really know what subject you choose to shot precisely (sunset, trees, landcape, building?)... you could upload some untouched and some reworked...
Hello! The base picture for Green Velvet was actually a very close picture of the inside of a unique looking flower. The picture came out much too blurry so I altered it a bit, and then, knew where to take it. That was the final pic. Thanks for the interest.
Thank you for the comment on "Speaking Words of Wisdom III". But how do you mean repetitive? As in it is the same sky just at a little different angel as "Speaking Words of Wisdom II"? Or repetitive as most of my pictures on this site are of skies?
Well Lucy, I haven't manipulated any photos yet, so right now you have a clean look of the nature in Minnesota. Thanks for your advice though, much appreciated.
Thanks Kyle, you had me wondering a bit. Still a nice image.
And Sean, I meant repetitive as in many pictures are of the sky and clouds. All are beautiful, but they are very much similar. Different weather, angles, or time of day would change much of that, so I am not saying give up on the sky. Just try to make more of your images distinguishable from eachother. I like the natural lense flairs greatly, I have taken a few pictures of those myself, but through trees.
lol, thanks for the info, Luke :) I will most likely still not have a band by the time they move to Canada (hmm, that's kinda sad isn't it.... have to keep going solo :p)
:) I'm glad you liked the pic. And yes, I did add some saturation, but only beacause I had to resize the it. Other than that its all natural lighting, ect. Thanks!
It was sitting there for ages so I tryed my luck and took my camera. It was at night so I had to flash. Not easy trying to shoot a macro on a white wall using the flash. I'm afraid of spiders, but my will to make a nice picture was stronger. Every time it moved a few inches I died. Maybe its theraphatic, making photo's of something your afraid of.
Its not that big, only 2 inches (5 cm) all together.
Hey Luke. Thanks for the comments on "Mother Mary Comes to Me" Im glad you liked it. THe white things are clouds from the original I thought they looked cool like that.

Thanks for looking at "Cute but shy" and leaving a comment, Luke. The leaves weren't wet, but when they're young and soft like this they have a waxy appearance which reflects the light. As they age they get harder and darker. Thanks for your interest :-)
Sup luke! lol, ya, 'twas grainy overexposed, but I can't figure out how to change the res. settings on my cam :-/ O well, and I said this on the pic, but here it goes anyway! It's not what's near you, it's how you capture it
Helloo. Thanks for your comments on "Alive." I do see where you are coming from. Thank you for taking a look and giving me some pointers. It is appreciated.
I like constructive criticism. So dont be offended by me... I mostly I am honest so that you are honest with me as well. I want to know how I can improve.
Hello Luke: Thank you for your comments on “Just Visiting”. I love soft focus; it gives the image a very dreamy look. Some images work well that way others it ruins.
It was left, slightly bright to emphasize the warm early daybreak lighting. Some like it some don't, either way that's OK!
Are the black bands around the edges distracting? I don't know if it works or not. For me it works: As I shoot 35mm, if you crop and resize the image, it loses some of its impact (I do all my cropping in camera). So I decided to stick to the original film size on a black background. Also the black edges on a vertical image give you the room to put your program icons into the black and have no impact on the image itself.
thanks for your comment on "bulletin". the image was very small to begin with so I had to englarge it at the best resolution I could. I'm actually still playing with it a little. I got the name "bulletin" because it almost looks like there are liquid metal bullets in the picture. and that was the first word that popped in my mind.
Hi Luke. I will treasure the comments you just left me about my gallery. That was very kind and meant a great deal to me. In fact, with so much disappearing I've decided to copy and paste my favorite comments into a folder on my HD. It is important to me to do my own thing and not fall into the trap of doing it for others or copying someone else's successful style. I won't enjoy my art near as much.
Hi Luke. Si is just an abbreviation of Simon - it saves 3 keystrokes every time I type it - so it's pronounced the same (i.e. "sigh"). I started using it years ago when a crowd of us had t-shirts made up with our names on - at 12p a letter it was 36p cheaper than my full name, enough for a pint of beer in those days.....
Hey! Thanks for commenting on the 3 pics :D To answer you're question on Another View, that's actually my camera. I couldn't edit it out lol, but thanks for the compliment! I love Cain's work, so that's very (VERY) big to me :D Thanks again Luke!
*~I feel myself going down. Again into this despair I trod. Trying to pull myself up again, but failing everytime. But somehow you rescued me from the depths, and I stand proud to be your love~*
Thanks for your wonderful comments on mountain scape...hope to do better on the water as I learn more..but for now...that was one of my first attempts and as you saw not to good on the water...
Thanks for your comment and suggestion on "Paintwork and power", Luke - the close-cropping to confuse the eye was deliberate, but I appreciate it may not work for everyone :-)
I read your comments about " Left behind" ...That is the way i wanted the picture to be...
I understand that there are thousand ways you can take footprints on the beach..this was my contribution..you are welcome with your version anytime...Thanks for stopping by!
Hi again, and thanks for your comment and vote on "Bluelily". I kept the manipulation as simple as possible, to give it a "real" look - glad you liked it that way :-)
Hey Luke! here's what i posted in respose to your comment on my self-port : lol, well thank you for the encouragement, that last part you added made me laugh :-P I'm hoping to get a better close up eventually, but school, drawing, and sports have made it difficult to make time lol (main reason I haven't been posting much lately)

Yeah don't get me wrong I liked the enviroment too ..just not as much with the fancy car. I thought that the car would just look better in the places I said. ..and: Ohhhhhh yeah I thought that was like your mom or dad's car. But i guess it is ..at some place that sells cars? ..because it looked like a garage. ..i dont know.

Hey Luke. Thanks for your opinion on "The River of Styx". Yeah I know that the water isnt that clean ..but there's not much i can do about that, and I don't have Photoshop to "make" it clean. haha. thanks!

Also thank you for the comment and advice on "My Guitar". Yeah I probably would ..unfortunately I don't think taking a Line 6 mm9 model guitar and making it that color would be ..perfectly legal. Haha. Thanks for the advice ..though I don't think I agree with you on the guitar being centered. It is just like a centimeter off. ...oh well. And I did take many different shots that day of the guitar there ..in all different veiws.

Hey Luke, thanks for your comments on Autumn Days, glad you liked it. I'll have to come back and check out your gallery when I have more time...take care.
Thanks alot for your comments on "A CHILLING DISCOVERY"...no, I don't mind if you try some shots like this...I actually believe it could be done better than this, with Jack Frost's help, of course, so good luck with it...besides, I'd rather see the cold weather show up in your city than mine! (hehe)Thanks again. : Pat.
Thanks for your comment on "Treetop Birds", Luke! The lighting was manipulated slightly to make the area beyond the birds darker and give a slightly fuzzy effect to the trees. There was a huge storm front rolling in when I took the photo, so it didn't require too much manipulation :) Thanks for making room in your faves! Glad you like my new icon :)
hi thanx for the comment on "lights on but..." i just took a photo of 1 of the lights on my front room(withe the light on) using the sepia setting on my cam then using photoshop cs
added another sepia filter and tweeked with the rgb levels towards the red end and using the healing tool edited out the light bulb .to create a pic that at first glance looks normal but not normal at the same time
Hey Luke :) Thanks for the comment and crituqe! I was waiting for someone to give me tips lol, cuz I've been wanting to do another one of that, but wasn't sure exactly what to do. Thanks for the tips :)
While there is perhaps a province in which the photograph can tell us nothing more than what we see with our own eyes, there is another in which it proves to us how little our eyes permit us to see. --Dorothea Lange

Hey thanks for the comments on "The Future", and "Mysterious Beginnings 2". The Future came out a little blurry, a little disappointing, but I appreciate your support--Thanks :)
Thanks for checking out (More Than Meets the Eye), Luke. I'm sorry I don't really have any better advice for seeing the spider, those things just wreak havok on some people's eyes. The program is pretty easy to use I think, but it would surely be much more difficult if you were unable to see your own creations. The tricky part about the program is tweaking it to get an image that really stands out in 3D, as opposed to one that just technically works. It's nice that it lets you provide all the texture pattern yourself (like I did on this one) or use some default ones if you prefer. Maybe you'd have better luck spotting one of these things if you made it yourself and knew exactly what you were looking for. Good luck!
But words are things, and a small drop of ink, falling, like dew, upon a thought produces that which makes thousands, perhaps millions think and smile.
Art is everywhere, except it has to pass through a creative mind.
hey thanks a lot for the great comment on "dedication".. the image was originally supposed to be a regular, cool looking desktop, but when i rendered that dark "squiggly" fractal, i noticed it looked like a heart in the middle of it.. immediately i thought of her, so i then changed the colors to a lighter soft shade. glad you like it ;]
thanks Luke, for your comments on "at the edge...". very much appreciated.
lol, no it's not really that... it's just because it's hard for me to explain in another language the way I work. My programs are in frensh and it's really difficult to find the correct term or word used in the english version of photoshop. So you see, more a bit of technical problem than something else. I'm seriously thinking about having an english version of PS, it would be easier this way.
But I'm going to try to explain anyway... tell me if it's not very clear :
first I duplicate my photo two times and use a different blur on each ( a motion and gaussian blur) then use the blend mode and play with the opacity to find something I would like.
Then I add a 'gradiant color' layer to have these green tone.
another layer for one of the sky shot I took this past winter, then blend it with the forest shot.
And finaly, I add a new layer and use the brush to light some part of the shot, and another one to darken in black the different side of the pic...
Yes! It’s incredibly important. At 100%, it's a bit harder to see the difference as a whole, but the before and after (full images) look way different. The images out of the camera tend to be a bit dull or flat looking, and a bit soft (not out of focus though).
The icon lens is not the same one from the tutorial, that’s just a 70-200mm. The icon photo came from a football game last night that I shot using a 400mm lens. They are pretty absurd, they weigh 14 lbs (which is alot for just a lens!) and you can not shoot without a monopod, they are just too heavy.
Thanks Luke for the nice comment on "plane trees",much appreciated. In my gallery I didn't change any photo with photo shop. I do have it, but prefere natural.
Hi Luke tks for commenting on High Speed Chase. Not really my thing to take pictures of however perhaps one day I will attempt it again keeping in mind your suggestions.

Hi Luke! Thank you so much for your great support on both versions of "Annabel Lee" I really appreciate your comments and am really glad you enjoyed them. I had such a great time putting these together and am so pleased that they have been so well received. I would love to win the contest, but at this point, even if I don't I'll be happy just because of all the great feedback. Thanks so much! :)
Thanks very much for the comment on 'X'; I'm glad you liked it! You're right; I used Photoshop. (Well, actually, I used Adobe PhotoDeluxe, also known as 'Photoshop for cheap people'.)
I hold it true that thoughts are things; They're endowed with bodies, breath and wings:
And that we send them forth to fill the world with good results, or ill.
That which we call our secret thought speeds forth to earth's remotest spot, leaving it's blessings or it's woes like tracks behind it as it goes.
We build our future, thought by thought for good or for ill, yet know it not.
Yet so the universe was wrought .
Thought is another name for fate.
Choose then thy destiny and wait, for Love brings Love and Hate brings Hate. - Henry Van Dyke.
