I'm glad you liked Majestic Monarchy. One of the reasons I took it was because of just what you saw..the colors of the flowers and the brilliancy of the butterfly itself. I was lucky that the sun was just where it was, and I didn't have to do any color enhancement at all on her or the flowers. It's always fun to post a butterfly capture when it's possible. :)PJ

Thanks for getting up in the middle of the night just to check out my flower "The Invader".You know if you lived in the corrupt State of Illinois you could have slept in an hour more, plus our criminals are more hospitable here. I've read recently that city officials are thinking of moving Hagerstown to Jersey; is that true? Anyway, Rob, I'm sure my flower would have thanked you for all your compliments (even though I did hold the camera), but unfortunately its gone to that big field up in heaven where all good flowers go to die...............Neil

Car Buffs - Series 2-11

You wrote "I like this. The first thing my eye goes to is the steering wheel. The first thing my mind goes to is what's in the reflection on the door? Looks like you've got a nice landscape going on. Although there's something on the door that I'm not quite sure of. I'm curious to whether that was thought of when the photo was taken?"

_______

Rob, to be honest with you by the time I had taken this shot I had about 150 shots in the camera and was ready to move into my day with other interests. The earlier shots were more carefully planned (some of which I've posted here). Then this Austin-Healey 100-6 pulled in. This was, by far, the finest example of this car that I've ever seen. It was the best car in the show and an absolute joy to see driven, no less to have the provide to photograph. As to the reflection, apart from the sky, the lady in the shot ws unintentional and not known to me.

A little while later I had a PERFECT shot lined up showing the fender ports on an old Buick. The car was pure black and deeply polished. The problem was the lady standing next to it seemed unable to move and the only thing the shot would have produced was a fine reflection of her butt in white shorts. I skipped what would have otherwise been a great shot. Sometimes you shoot for the image, sometimes you shoot for the reflection... sometimes you just need to walk away. ;)

Cheers!

Rob

Rob:
Thanks for your comments on the "Little Covered Bridge". I agree that the fence detracts somewhat from the main subject. Unfortunatley, the fence was too close to the bridge for me to omit it from this side, and a locked gate prevented me from checking out the possibilities from the other side. Maybe when I'm in that area again I can catch a view from the other side. I appreciate your critique.

Hi Rob! Thanks for your comment on Butterfly. I would have loved to have gotten a better shot of the butterfly, however, I did not get the opportunity as it flew away before I could take any more. This was the only shot I was able to get. I had just gotten home from work and noticed it when I scared it into flight. I was lucky enough that it came back and gave me the opportunity to take this shot.

Thanks for checking out 'What The...'. You have a good eye and great ideas on this. The shot is from a boardwalk that surrounds a little pond, so I am about 5 feet above him. I was testing a new Canon S3 IS (12x zoom). I didn't have a polarizer and was afraid of too many reflections, so I did zoom it. I noticed afterward (of course) that his feet were cut off, so I agreed whole heartedly that it was over zoomed in this case. I didn't see what caught his attention. Thanks again for your comments, much appreciated.

You are absolutley correct about the background! What is even more funny is that I have a version of that picture masked out. (bezier curves mask in photoshop) and a slighty gradated backdrop. It looks really nice. I wish I could upload it, but I dont want to take my 1 upload spot that I have. Anyway... it looks really nice with the background dropped out and I wish that I had uploaded that one in the first place. Thanks for the comment!

Thank you Rob, for your valuable comments on the "Twin Flames". My only excuse for the minor faults is that it was near midnight when I did this and that I should have waited till next morning, looked at it again, instead of posting it right away. Appreciate your comments very much.- Raj

Thanks so much, Rob, for commenting on "Pieces of Reality." I've always likes the way the blades of grass are positioned, too, and I wish I could say it was do to my personal skill, but it was really completely serendipitous. The grass was part of the original shot, which was just taken for fun this summer when it was possible to take outdoor shots without risking frostbite. The sky shot was taken a couple months later, actually, so it's strange to put together two pieces of work that really had nothing to do with each other. But it was a project I enjoyed, and I'm glad you liked it. Thanks again!

Rob: Thanks for taking the time to comment on "Natural-wood Framing." I'd like to take credit for the framing, but it's just where the little guy decided to land. Sometimes luck trumps skill! Gene

Good morning.

Thanks for your comments/suggestions on "moon over the Grand Mesa". They are appreciated.
That was shot with a Olympus 5mp point and shoot. I do have the ability to make manual settings but I was in a hurry to get to a meeting. The flash was set on Automatic and I didn't notice it.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes
