I looked through your gallery and you put up good shots. I noticed a LOT of your shots have excellent clarity, and I'm just curious what camera you use? I work retail as a part time job (best buy :P) and enjoy giving customers the best advice possible, and since it doesn't look like you go through much, if any, editing, I think your comments on your equipment would be helpfull. Again nice gallery, and have a nice day!
Hi James. I'm using a Fuji FinePix E550. It has a great reputation for shooting fine detail images which is the main reason I got it; that and it's price range for what you get. The E550 is a 6.3 megapixel camera that uses a technology called "SuperCCD HR" which arranges the pixels diagonally and in a honeycomb shape. This gives it the ability to producing more detail than with a conventional CCD in similar 6.3 mp cameras. While this also produces a bigger file size, I use a 1gig card which gives me plenty of shots.
All of my pictures are shot at the highest resolution, 4048 x 3040 pixels. By the time I reduce to 1600 x 1200 and sharpen the image in Photoshop, I can get very nice detail. You are correct about the "editing" in that I do very little. The ony editing the image you are commenting on received was the "sharpen" filter in PS.
This camera can also shoot in RAW mode which will make a small difference by I normally don't use it as it's not needed for desktop images. There are a ton more features that are described nicely here: http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/E550/E55A.HTM
That's really it. Everything else is aperture, shutter speed, composition, etc.
Hi Paul. Thanks for the comment about my latest photo 'Muddy Shore & Yellow Bouy'. It made me laugh. I too doubt that too many people will like the idea of having mud and rank on their desktops!! I hope I at least get good marks for effort?!!!
Hey thanks for takin the time to leave a comment on White Rose. and making it a higher resolution I just did, but its not cropped. You're right about the noise, I haven't gotten it down yet. I will soon hopefully. :)
Thanks for the comment about the tunnel. I was afraid it would seem too vibrant but I couldn't help it, I loved how the bright green looked! thanks again : )
Hello, thanks for commenting on MrEyes. He was such an amazing model I can't believe he let me get so close! I wouldve liked to have given him a big kiss to thank him. hah well maybe not but it was fun anyway.
Hello. Thanks for the great comment! I was surprised you said my camera has excellent dynamic range because my camera was sort of starting to disappoint me. But its brand new and I'm not an expert of knowing what exposure to use and everything yet so maybe thats why. I never change the exposure actually, so I have a lot to learn. Anyway Thanks again!
