Thank you so much for your nice comment about Angel behind those leaves and sorry, this was the closest I came to this beauty. This old cementary, which is today a museum, is so full of plants, that some graves are not even to be seen anymore. If you want to know more, I have a link to my husbands discription of it for you.
Hi Chris!
Thanks a lot for your very nice comment on 'St. Marx Cemetery #1'!
You asked how I did the overlapping thing.
Well, there are several ways to do that.
I use Photoshop and there you can define patterns, here with and without the frame.
With the second stamp tool you can copy the contents of one pattern over the other, so you can 'delete' parts of the frame and make the cross visible...
Regards
Chris

Hi Chris - thanks for your comments on my last photos and in answer to your question - no I did not ask the couple - they are unrecognizable I think, so I don't really see a problem! I suppose it is a risk you take sometimes, but I was definitely not going to get wet asking them the question! I am sure they would be flattered by the photograph! :)

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit all those images:
The Big Chinese - I have other pics of him and I will post one when I post the second half of my Prater series.
Breakdance - It might look as if I could just walk into it. But I would never do this. My poor little stomach. Smile
Roller Coaster - The sky was really that amazing blue that day. It was one of those fantastic summer days, we had the whole spring - not so many now...
Around the Town Hall - I often wonder, how our architecture did happen. I mean, no electricity or stuff ...
Sculptures at the Imperial Palace - Oh yes, we have sculptures everywhere. My luck. I love taking pics of them.
I was very happy seeing you again! Smile
Hi Chris, belated thanks for your great comments at "Gas & Eats". I see in your info above that you're in Stuttgart, but your comment on the icy cold Dr. Pepper made me think you must be from one of the southern states in the U.S. That photo does take one back in time. Glad you enjoyed the image!
Thank you so much for your nice words about Danube & Swan. If I would have removed the cable, the boat there would already be in Bukarest. Smile. No, really, I think I was a bit lazy, as I prepeard that one.
Hi Chris, thanks for your comments on my last two photos and the sky was real - I was very lucky! On Saturday we had perfect weather in the afternoon - the last two times I was there it was either hazy sunshine or overcast. :) I still have some shots where the sky is burned out but by focusing further back more towards the skyline I managed to capture both sky and land and with a few adjustments in Photoshop to bring out the colours - I discovered the graph and have been experimenting by moving the position of it to create different depths of colour and light throughout the photograph.

Hey Chris..thanks for your comments on "Overlooking Pennsylvania" and "Just Around the Bend" (you're very quick, by the way!!)
On the first image...the circular polarizer enhances color and contrast. It corrects reflected light that washes out images, so it produces a deep colored sky, etc. (I took that right out of the booklet that came with it!) My guess is that the softness could be a focus/DOF issue.
On the second image...to lighten up the corner, you could probably mess with curves or use the "dodge" or "burn" tool (dodge in this case) in Photoshop. I had the polarizer on for this one as well, so that could be a reason for the dark contrasts. I kinda wanted it pretty dark to lead the eye towards the lighted part...but I like dark, contrasty images (probably too much so!), so I can understand if its too dark for some tastes.
Anyway, I've said too much...I'm always glad when you visit!!
Hi Chris, what does IMHO stand for?? or am I being dumb? lol! ...and yes I agree about removing the cars on my photograph! I looked at it and thought - should I? shouldn't I? Is it better with to leave cars and people in or to remove them? It is always a question I have to ask myself! Mostly I just kill off all the people and tow away the cars! LOL! In this case, I think I made a mistake and am going to remove the cars, but won't repost it! The frame has the fotoframe frame and the almost white background - maybe that is too light - what colour do you think I should use with that photograph? - over to you! ;)
ohhhh and about the polariser that Stephen is talking about - I use one often - a circular polariser which enhances the colours - makes the sky bluer, the grass greener. You set the circular adjustment at 45 degrees angle to the sun - it allows the rays to bounce off at a certain angle. Just adding my little bit of knowledge on the subject - now I will shut up! :| :)

Hi Ya Chris, I want to thank you for the comment on "Dressed In Her Finest" I believe it is a clamaitis It was on a vine with other like blooms. It does look like its not connected to anything but it is. I think that is kind of what caught my attention after uploading from the camera. ><

Thanks a lot for your nice comment about The corners of Vienna (8). About the blue sky: Wait till the sky is at least a bit blue, not grey, than take care, that the sun is in your back - and than you focus on the white parts and there you have the blue sky.
Thanks a lot for your nice words about Baden Casino. I am a bit behind with my own comments, since I was so tired yesterday, but soon I will see the pretty stuff you posted ... Smile
Hey again Chris...thanks for having a look at "Mossy Falls" and "Tropical Showers 2 - a PJ rework"..the exposure time for "Mossy Falls" in particular was 4 seconds. So, depending on the light, its usually somewhere from 1 second to 4 seconds.
Hi Chris, thanks for stopping by and commenting on Florence - Il Ponte Vecchio. I'm really pleased that you liked it. You have some great photos in your gallery, as well.
Several of my photos are available for purchase in larger format at Shutterpoint, and some are also available in high quality framed prints at http://djholmes.imagekind.com/
Hey Chris...thanks for your comments on "Babbling", "Fork in the Road", and "Farley, My Boy"...always very much appreciated!! By the way...where are you visiting when you come to the states?
Hi Chris, yes, I did have to sneak, and not too close either, that is why there is so much grass, I was lucky to get the shot I did, and if I had cropped any further the clarity would have suffered. Thanks again, enjoy your vacation, look forward to your return.
Thanks a lot for your nice words about Barbary Sheep. You think he does not look that energetic? You should see me ... this weather is that heavy. I remember 40 degree in Greece, but never before in Vienna.
Thanks a lot for your nice words about St. Stephan's roof for the nice birthday wishes you left for Chris and most of all for putting St. Stephan's roof into your favs. That makes me that proud!
A beginner with photography. I just got my Nikon D40 a few days ago and I am absolutely obsessed with it. Any comments on my pictures is well appreciated.
Hey Chris...thanks so much for your comments on "Abstract Motion" and "Tohickon Creek"...I went on a little hike the other day and could only manage 3 serviceable shots, but I really liked how these two came out. It's more of a river than a creek really, so I expected the shots to come out a bit different than what I've been posting...and I was pleasantly surprised. Thanks again!!
Thanks for your comment on "Peace In Unity". The picture is probably fuzzy because of the camera I took it with [it was very cheap]. Haha thanks though!

Hey there Chris...thanks so much for your thoughts on "The Shining" and "Blue Dragonfly"...the sun in my shot reminded my of your night shots, and neither of us used a filter. I'm pleased with them and I'm glad you like them too!!
Hey Chris..thanks this time for your visit to "Flutterby" and "The Farmhouse"...for the farmhouse shot, I couldn't really get a different perspective...the trial went onto a small footbridge at that point that was very overgrown and I couldn't get a different position. That was the best angle I could get...I do agree though, wider would have been better!
Thanks a lot for your nice comment at Hollyday Greetings - Glad you liked it and glad, you did agree with everybody else.
And for your words about Before the weather changed - Yes, there is a lot to see in Salzburg, you should do that trip also one day.
